About Us.
Mission Statement
The Agricultural Students’ Association (ASA) exists to enhance the university experience of all students in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources. The ASA council shall act as a representative and an advocate for the students and maintain an environment that encourages academic, social, athletic and professional development as well as Agro pride. ASA also promotes an environment that is free of discrimination. In the act of selection peers to represent them, the students in the ASA have entrusted these persons to speak on their behalf with the collective voices of the entire student body of the College of Agriculture and Bioresources and in return the council has accepted a responsibility to dutifully serve these students.
History
The Agricultural Students’ Association was formed in 1912 with the arrival of the first Agriculture students at the University of Saskatchewan. It wasn’t until March 1920 that the constitution was drafted and approved, marking the official formation of the ASA. Among the objectives of the association is the development of rural leadership and the promotion of the agricultural education in the province; although, as with most student organizations, its primary function is to promote fellowship among the students and to serve as a medium of communication between the students and the faculty.
